13: Allegiance to What?

Allegiance to what?

I pledge allegiance

but not to a flag

for i have a grievance

and i don’t care if i nag

where do i start?

a lynching in the street?

families torn apart,

by unnecessary violence they meet

knee on his throat, “i can’t breathe.”

the melanated man was pleading.

leaving the pacifists to seethe,

about another Black man bleeding

systematic elimination

of minority people, is routine

in a christian nation.

Regardless if it’s elder, baby, or teen.

But what gives them the right?

I’m awake and ready to fight.
