66: My Coffee with Death

My Coffee with Death

(Hushedly)

i wanted to say thank you for letting my him

stay awhile longer.

i wasn’t ready. and He’s worked too hard.

He’s loved so hard

and the value of His presence,

extinct so soon,

brought me to strange and

unnavigated seas.

i recognize the blessing

you decided to bestow

upon me and my Family.

Exiting the coffeshop,

my thoughts begin to race.

i need to get it together and write.

i need to start that gratitude journal.

i need to be more patient.

i need to get my mind right.

As Death departs,

always a couple steps behind me…

my mind slows and

I finally think to say

“thank you for reminding me,

that this place

is empty.

except for, the value

i place on things.

and He is worth

more than i have to offer.”
